salad bar

Bon ba cette fois ce sera en anglais. Pour les faineants, ça parle juste de mes déboires avec le bar à salade d'à coté.
Twice a week (or more), I go to a salad bar to get a meal. Mostly coming home from swimming practice or from the gym. In those moments, I feel lazy, hungry and I want to eat something healthy. As there is a salad bar on my home, I always stop there. For 35 pesos, I get a "small" take-away, salad which definitely looks big enough to me. It consists of salad, 1 kind of meat, 3 kinds of vegetables and some dressing.
This place is always open, and the waiter is nice, so it's always a pleasant stop. But somehow, something is always wrong with the order. The food is always fresh and I have never gotten sick with it (which in Mexico is a rather exceptionnal happening), so I still patronize the place but here is what happens regularily.
-sorry, we have only what kind of meat left (chicken of course, which suits me, but as it is just 12h and mexican are late eaters, I wonder what there was in the first place).
-sorry, we have only 3 vegetables left (same hour of course)
-sorry, we have no regular containers left, and no cutlery either (didn't really bother me, he just put my salad in another container)
-sorry, we have no lids left (that one is strange, seeing as normally you do 1 container=1lid)
-sorry, today we have no dressing (why is the place open then?)
And the best was this morning. I came in pleasantly surprised. There was an abundance of vegetables, of meats and even of dressings this morning. So I ask for my regular order, the waiter goes to get the salad and comes back with apologic smile number 423847: sorry, I to buy the salad. I just stood there, rooted to the spot. No salad in a salad bar!!! Then I fought very hard from bursting out laughing, I didn't completely win but really, what would you have done.
He was so miserable, I asked him if we could change the salad for pasta (that's one of the "vegetables" you can get on top of salad normally).
He agreed and looked very relieved, so I had pasta salad with vegetables, meat and dressing at lunch today. All in all, a very nice meal. :-)
I think I'll go back tomorrow, just to see what happens. I have found, you always have a pleasant time at that place. ;-)
